Privacy Policy

We recognize the importance of your privacy, and that you have a right to control how your personal information is collected and used. We know that providing personal information is an act of trust and we take that seriously. Unless you directly give us consent to do otherwise, Makedo will only collect and use your personal information as set out below.

Makedo’s Privacy Statement is intended to represent industry best practice and comply fully with the GDPR (EU) 2016, the Privacy Act 1988 and, in particular, the rules set out in the National Privacy Principals for the collection, use, disclosure and storage of personal information. This Privacy Policy, along with our Terms and Conditions, outlines how your personal data is handled by Makedo. As this information may have been updated since your last visit, we recommend that you review this Policy from time to time.

The aim of this Privacy Statement is to notify you of our on-line privacy practices and to describe the choices you have about the way your information is collected and used.  This statement is accessible from the bottom of each page of our website to which it applies, and at every point where personal information is requested. It also explains the security measures taken to protect your information, your ability to access your information and whom you can contact at Makedo to answer your questions about this Privacy Statement and resolve any issues that may arise.

1. Privacy and procedure for kids
Makedo understands the importance of protecting the privacy of children and contacts the parent or legal guardian of children under 13 before processing or publishing any information the child has submitted to www.make.do. Makedo encourages parents and guardians to spend time with their children online and to participate in their interactive activities and interests. The Makedo homepage, gallery and upload sections are a specially constructed hub for the dissemination of Makedo creations and to showcase the open-ended play enabled by Makedo.

For users over 13 years, by signing up (registering, uploading content, entering competitions) you are indicating that you agree with the terms outlined in this Policy. If you are the parent or guardian of a child who has notified us that they are under 13 and have provided us with your email address then, we will contact you directly to inform you that you child has signed up to receive our monthly updates or has submitted images of their Makedo creation which may be featured on our website, on social media platforms and in marketing materials. Parents and legal guardians of kids under 13 who ‘sign up’ to receive monthly news, share their Makedo creation with our community (via our website, social media or marketing collateral) or to participate in our Makedo community initiatives (competitions, promotions) have certain rights under federal law and Makedo recognizes those rights. Currently the only required identifiable information we collect is name, age and parent’s email address. A child's participation or access to an activity on our site is not conditioned on their providing more Personal Information than is reasonably necessary for the activity.

Protecting the online privacy of children is especially important, and those under the age of 13 are protected by federal law. For that reason, Makedo does not knowingly permit children under the age of 13 to sign up to receive our monthly updates or to submit images of their Makedo creation, without verifiable parental consent. Makedo does not knowingly collect or solicit personal information about children under 13, except with their parent's express consent.

If we ever include children under the age of 13 as part of our intended site audience, those specific web pages will, in accordance with the provisions of the Information Privacy Principles contained in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) in relation to its non-commercial activities; National Privacy Principles contained in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) in relation to its commercial activities; Australian Direct Marketing Association Code of Practice in relation to how we market to our customers; be clearly identified and provide an explicit privacy notice; and we will provide processes to obtain parental approval, provide access to information and allow parents to request removal of their children's personal information.
When a child under 13 ‘signs up’ at www.make.do Makedo contacts the parent/guardian within 7 days to advise them that their child has shared their information with us.

At this time Makedo emails the parent/guardian to provide them with the information collected by make.do. Makedo does not process the child’s information for a further 72 hours to allow the parent/guardian time to review the information the child has shared with us. The parent can request that Makedo delete that information, and refuse to allow Makedo to collect further information from their kids by contacting our Customer Services department by email at hello@make.do. Parents should include their kid's and the registered (parent's) email address in the e-mail so we can better assist them with their inquiry or request. Makedo may ask additional questions or take other steps to verify the identity of parents/guardians before responding to a request to review or delete their kid's information, or a request to refuse further collection from kids.

By submitting photographs, video and stories featuring Makedo content, subject to the terms outlined in the preceding paragraphs, you or your guardian consents to this information being posted on the Makedo website, social media platforms and Makedo promotional material. No personally identifiable content will be used without expressed consent by the uploading party. Requests to remove information, images or identifying content about a child can be submitted to: hello@make.do. Please allow five days for this removal process to take place.
